Album in the Works: "Unconditional Love" (Ruben Studdard)


While Ruben Studdard is currently on NBC's weight-loss reality show The Biggest Loser, he is also putting is sights back on music with a new album Unconditional Love slated for release this February via Verve Records.

Unconditional Love is Ruben's first album with Verve and will serve as his official followup to his 2012 release Letters from Birmingham. Slated to feature a majority of covers and two original joints, including the first single, "Meant To Be," which will see its release tomorrow on November 19, Verve Charimand and 16-time Grammy Award winning producer  David Foster will serve as one of the producers for Ruben's coming album.

Featuring covers of "My Love" by the Beatles, The Carpenters classic, "Close To You" which features the legendary Stevie Wonder on harmonica, the Bonnie Raitt classic "I Can’t Make You Love Me,"  a cover of Teddy Pendergrass' "Close The Door" which was produced by Grammy-nominated crooner Eric Benét who also produced Ruben's rendition of Boz Scaggs's classic hit "Look What You’ve Done To Me" and a powerhouse duet with Lalah Hathaway on the Syreeta Wright and Billy Preston classic "With You I'm Born Again."

Remarking on the album, Ruben stated that "Unconditional Love is my most romantic album yet. I've wanted to record many of these love songs for a really long time. It’s the most heartfelt album I've ever recorded and includes many of my favorite songs from all different eras."
