Live Video of the Day: "A House Is Not A Home" (Luther Vandross)

You can't find a bad Luther Vandross performance, it is just impossible as Luther is a vocal master with the ability and depth to continually find something new and different with each performance of his classic hits. With that said, Luther's performance at the NAACP Image Awards of "A House Is Not A Home" is one of his most, if not most legendary performances on video as the then young crooner gives veterans and peers in the industry a singing 101 lesson. Watch his iconic performance below as we continue to remember Lutha!

Accompanying herself on the guitar, Lianne proves why she is an artist on the rise and one to lookout for and support. Watch her sublime performance of "Lost and Found" below and Enjoy!

Cut: "Listen To Your Heart" (Alicia Keys)

Alicia Keys' fifth studio album Girl On Fire is actually one of the best releases this year minus her single "Girl on Fire" and the buzz single "New Day." Call me crazy, but the title track to Keys' fifth LP and "New Day" are actually the weakest tracks in my opinion from her album that boasts some of the best material we've heard from Keys since 2004' Diary Of Alicia Keys. With that said, one of my favorite cuts has to be the John Legend co-written joint "Listen To Your Heart," which was also co-produced between Keys and Rodney Jerkins. While I am not feeling the single choices thus far, I am hopeful that the rest of the sublime material from Girl On Fire gets a chance to breath in public as Keys has composed one of her most compelling albums in years. Either way you feel, take a listen below to "Listen To You Heart" and Enjoy!

Second Listen: "You for Me (The Wedding Song)" (Johnny Gill)

Back in 2005, Johnny Gill was featured on the "Madea's Family Reunion" soundtrack and Gill crooned out a phenomenal song entitled "You For Me (The Wedding Song)." While people feel different ways about Tyler Perry's films, you can't deny that he does know how to create a solid soundtrack. With that said, take a first or second listen below to Gill's sublime "You For Me (The Wedding Song)" and Enjoy!

Amazing Cover: "If You Believe" (Jennifer Hudson)

Back in 2009 during the 70th Anniversary celebration of "The Wizard of Oz," Jennifer Hudson along with several other artists took part in a Netflix sponsored concert event to honor the legacy of the monumental film. With that said, Jennifer Hudson opted to sing the powerful ballad "If You Believe" from the all-Black reinvention of "The Wizard of Oz" aka "The Wiz." Originally performed in the film version by the now late and legendary Lena Horne, Hudson pays tribute to Horne and the original Broadway cast who created such a powerful gem that is often forgotten about. With that said, watch Jennifer's powerful performance of "If You Believe" below and Enjoy!

Live Clip: "All I Want for Christmas Is You"/ "Christmas Time Is in the Air Again" (Mariah Carey)

I don't know about you, but when I think of Christmas, Mariah Carey is of course associated with the holiday seaso. With that said, this past Wednesday night, the legendary Carey took part in NBC’s "Christmas in Rockefeller Center." Of course Mariah kicked off the festivities with her classic co-written holiday jam "All I Want for Christmas Is You" and then moved into my favorite Christmas jam from her latest holiday album, "Christmas Time Is in the Air Again." Watch it all go down below and Enjoy!

Live Audio: "O Holy Night" (Mariah Carey)

It's not Christmas without a little Mariah Carey music in the background. With two Christmas albums under her belt, Mariah Carey us the epitome of holiday spirit and her live rendition of "O Holy Night" lifted form WPC in South Central Los Angeles is a great example of the vocal prowess of Carey. With that said, take a listen below to this sublime live audio take on this classic and Enjoy!

Amazing Cover: "Christmas Time Is Here" (Toni Braxton)

Back in 2001, Toni Braxton released her Christmas album "Snowflakes" and the standout track from the album for me is Toni's take on the Vince Guaraldi 1962 Christmas classic "Christmas Time Is Here". While few have remade this gem, Braxton's interpretation is the best that I've heard thus far and deserves a few listens to help those usher in the pending Christmas holiday!

New Joint: "Miles" (Dawn Richard)

To tide her fans over until her full-length LP, Dawn Richard is slated to release her EP Whiteout  on iTunes this Saturday, December 1st and ahead of its release, Dawn has released her joint "Miles." Second Listen: "Grown-Up Christmas List" (Amy Grant)

Back in 1992 Amy Grant released her second Christmas album "Home for Christmas" and the second single lifted from the project was Grant's "Grown-Up Christmas List," which became a Christmas classic. Originally recorded by Natalie Cole in 1991, Grant rewrote the song and turn it into a holiday classic that has been covered by numerous artists. Take a first or second listen below to Grant's "Grown-Up Christmas List," and Enjoy!

Cut: "When It's All Over" (Alicia Keys)

Alicia Keys' latest album "Girl On Fire" was released yesterday and it's already gaining critical and commercial acclaim as it's expected to debut atop the Billboard 200. With that said, one of my favorite cuts from Keys' new album has to be her thumping mid-tempo "When It's All Over" which even features her son at the end of the track. Take a listen below to "When It's All Over" and Enjoy!

Artist News: Angie Stone & Sunshine Anderson join R&B Divas

TV One's breakout reality hit show "R&B Divas" is currently on hiatus after an extremely successful first season, and now word on a casting shake up  has hit the net. While it has been reported that producer Nicci GIlbert has stepped away from the forthcoming second season, word on the street indicates that Angie Stone and Sunshine Anderson have joined the cast of "R&B Divas." While it has not been confirmed, it seems as if Faith Evans might not be back for the second season, but time will tell how the final cast lines up for the second season. What is clear though, is that the original cast members Syleena Johnson, Keke Wyatt, and Monifa are all expected to return in addition to some new 'Divas.' As always, I will keep you updated on it all.

  • Record Label: Perspective Records
  • Released in 1992 off of The Night Before Christmas: A Musical Fantasy

Amazing Cover: "What A Wonderful World" (Ledisi)

Ledisi's Christmas album "It's Christmas" is a standard holiday album that's been played at my house since it was released back in 2008. It's so good that you probably will catch me playing it even out of season as her cover of Louis Armstrong's standard "What A Wonderful World" is out of this world. Ledisi straight highjacks this joint in my opinion and makes it her own. With that said, watch her sublime impromptu performance of "What A Wonderful World" below and Enjoy!

Artist News: Lenny Kravitz confirmed to play Gaye in "Midnight Love"

While there was speculation before the Thanksgiving holiday about Lenny Kravitz potentially portraying Marvin Gaye in the forthcoming Julien Temple film on Gaye's life, Deadline is now confirming the buzz about Kravitz taking his first leading role. Previously appearing in supporting roles in Precious and The Hunger Games, the film will focus on  Gaye's last years during the early ’80s, when he stuggled with drug addiction, depression and restarting his career in Europe with the help of British music promoter Freddy Colsaerts.  The film helmed by Temple is tentatively entitled Midnight Love after  Gaye’s last album.  Word on the street is also that the film will being shooting next year and that Temple has already cleared the music rights for Midnight Love for the project, which hopefully means we will be seeing Midnight Love on screen at the end of 2013 or sometime in 2014.
