Artist News: Jennifer Hudson joins NBC's "Smash"

Oscar and Grammy-winner Jennifer Hudson might soon be adding an Emmy to her resume with a forthcoming multistory arc on the NBC's critically acclaimed series "Smash." Entering into its second season beginning in the winter of 2013, Jennifer Hudson will guest star in an undisclosed number of episodes as Veronica Moore, a Tony Award-winning Broadway star who will appear on the show starting with the first episode of the season. Robert Greenblatt, Chairman of NBC Entertainment had the following to say about the addition of the multi-talented Hudson to their sophomore series "Smash."
"We're thrilled to have Jennifer Hudson coming to ‘Smash"....This series is a showcase for some of the best musical talent in the business and that's a fitting description for Jennifer Hudson. Her character will represent someone who reached their Broadway dream but also paid a price for it."
Executive producer Steven Spielberg further noted:
"First ‘Dreamgirls,’ now ‘Smash.’ I have no doubt Jennifer will continue to deliver even more inspiration to the audience responsible for giving us a second season on NBC. It's wonderful to be reunited with her at DreamWorks Television and NBC.”
Time will tell how Hudson's character shall fare on "Smash," but her addition shall definitely raise the show's profile when it returns in the winter of 2013.
