Artist News: Ne-Yo named Senior VP of A&R of Motown

Though the legendary Motown label has gone through some restructuring as of late, it appears as though the Motown is gaining some of its footing back as Grammy winning and hit-making songwriter and singer Ne-Yo has just been named Senior VP of A&R for the label. This move now places Ne-Yo within the Motown roster and gives him control to help build Motown's vision and stable of artists. With that said, Ne-Yo has recently released a statement on his latest career move to MTV.

"I'm honored that I¹ve been given such a prestigious title and trusted with such responsibility; terrified because I know that playing this role in the fashion of one of my career role models, Mr. Smokey Robinson -- these are big shoes to fill. But trust, I can handle it."

While Ne-Yo joins Motown as both an artist and the head of A&R, it should be interesting to see what vision Ne-Yo helps set and guide as Motown moves into a new phase of its history.
